24-25 BWES Traffic Pattern Change

Buckeye Woods Elementary School Families:

It is hard to believe that we are on the cusp of another school year. As construction work continues on Holton Road in front of the school, we want to inform families that we are planning on a change in traffic flow for AM drop-off to start the school year. These changes are intended to reduce traffic congestion that occurs in the drop-off lane and on Holton Road during the morning times.

New this year, families who are dropping students off in the AM are asked to turn left into our main drive (parking area) from Holton Road and stay to the left until the end of the parking lot. Before the last row of parking, you will turn right and go towards the school (see the accompanying visual above for reference). What this new change will mean, in practice, is that students should sit behind the driver (and exit on the driver’s side) so they can exit on the left side of the vehicle onto the sidewalk. This change will maximize timeliness and ensure student safety during morning drop-off.

Once more, it is our hope that this new change will greatly reduce anticipated traffic congestion in the drop-off area so families can commence on their morning and afternoon commutes in a timely fashion. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this new traffic and safety initiative.

Announcements:

Holton Road Construction

From Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, and running through mid-February 2025, a new Holton Road construction project will begin in front of the school where there will be Westward bound traffic ONLY between Buckeye Parkway and Hoover Rd. for the foreseeable future.

From our contacts with the city, we have been told that construction work will focus on a number of safety improvements benefiting students and families to include: road widening, installation of sidewalks, a shared-use path, new street lighting, curb and gutters, water main replacement, and improvements to the storm sewer. A new traffic signal will also be added at the Meadow Grove and Pinnacle Park Drive intersection.

During this time, we thank you for your patience and understanding with morning and afternoon pick-ups and drop-offs.

Keep your Infinite Campus Parent Portal information updated to get text, phone, and email updates!

Infinite Campus (IC) is the District’s Internet-based student information system. Important features of IC are the Parent Portal and NEW Mobile App. Through the IC tools, parents are able to access their child’s information, such as class schedules, attendance, academic reports, transportation information, coursework, and put funds in their child’s food service account online. Parents can also designate how and where they wish to receive emergency communications, attendance calls, general announcement messages, and e-mail messages from teachers, the school, and the school district. New accounts need an activation key. The district will be mailing those out in August, so save the letter if you need to create a new account.

To create an IC account, please go to:  https://www.swcsd.us/ParentPortalMobileApp.aspx

If you already have an IC account, please update your emergency contact information at:    https://www.swcsd.us/OnlineAnnualInformationUpdate.aspx
